9 DAYS / 8 NIGHTS

DAY 1 – Reception in Cusco. Talk about The Andean Cosmovision

Kety Paredes, our Cusquenian hostess, will receive you from Cusco´s airport & take you to the hotel.

We recommend that on the first day you drink a tea made from coca leaves, and rest in the comfortable facilities and beautiful gardens of the hotel as your body becomes acclimatized to Cuzco’s high altitude.

At the end of the afternoon we will introduce the guides who will be with us throughout the trip, and will talk about the places we will visit in the coming days.

DAY 2 – Visit to the Sacred temples of Cusco and surrounding areas.

Breakfast. With our spiritual guide, we will start by visiting the most important sacred temples of Cusco. Sacsayhuaman (Temple dedicated to worship the Sun), Kenko (temple dedicated to public rituals). We will explain all the symbolism and hidden knowledge.
We will take it easy and without too much effort so that your body will continue to adapt to the altitude of Cusco.
Picnic lunch.
Free afternoon.

DAY 3 – Ceremony at the Temple of the Moon.

This day we will take you to a magical place around Cusco hardly know by travel agencyes. Patallacta (Temple of the Fertility). Here we will do a ceremony of rebirth in the womb of Pachamama. We will connect the three worlds of Hanan Pacha, Kay Pacha and Ujku Pacha with traditional Inca music.

Free afternoon.

DAY 4 – Water Temple.

We will travel to Pumamarca (Water Temple), an important place and a shrine where the Incas worshiped water. We will have a water ceremony or ‘Yacumama’, an emtional cleansing and healing, accompanied by ancient music to connect with the spirit of water. This cleansing ceremony will be done individualy, and will be directed by a Shaman from the community of Q’eros.

Day 5 – Sacred Valley.

Journey to the Sacred Valley.
We will have Music Therapy led by Alfredo Papachito.
Then you have free time to stroll through the magnificent surroundings and visit the picturesque village of Pisac with its charming shops and market where you can buy local handicrafts.
We continue to the town of Urubamba where we stop for an exquisite Andean buffet lunch.
At the end of the afternoon we will take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes in Machu Picchu, (2 hour train trip on the Expedition service). There we will spend the night in the hotel in order to get up early the next day and climb the sacred mountain of Machu Picchu.

DAY 6 – Temple of Machu Picchu.
Visita a la Gran Ciudadela Mística.

In the morning we will get up early to climb to the citadel of Machu Picchu (15 minutes by bus). There our guide will explain to us the mysticism and significance of each part. Entering the site, a set of steps leads to the ruined Temple of the Sun and a series of altars and niches. Highlights include the remains of ceremonial baths, the Sacred Plaza with its tremendous view across the Urubamba River valley, a rare shrine to the sun, and a labyrinth of passageways and cells.
The tour takes two hours and after that we will have a ceremony to pay respect to the Apus (mountain spirits), Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu & Putucusi. You will have free time to wander, meditate and enjoy the energies of the place. In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes to have dinner at 20.00 pm.

DAY 7 – Day off after breakfast and free time.

Optional Mandor Waterfalls.
Optional visit to the butterfly Sanctuary.
20.00pm dinner.

DAY 8 – Visit to Chincheros.

Breakfast.
We board our train back to Ollantaytambo where we will continue our journey to visit the authentic and picturesque villages of Chincheros, where time seems to stand still. You will see the people who are still wearing their traditional clothes and the church whose foundations are the stone walls to the palace of Manco Inca. Here you will also see the local people demonstrating how they produce their beautiful textile pieces & sell their handicfafts.

Meeting to share the experiences of the trip.

Day 9 – Cusco farewell.

Breakfast.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to your country of origin.

    PAYMENT FORM
    The service rates are per person with accommodation based on sharing double or triple rooms, and are in US Dollars.
    We ask for a 20% deposit to be paid 40 days before the travel date, and the remainder is payable on first day of arrival in Cusco.

    CANCELLATIONS
    In case of cancellation of the reservation after the 20% deposit payment, Viajes Misticos will retain the value paid in respect of all bookings already made for hotels, train tickets and entrance tickets, because the companies do not offer refunds.
    Cancellation during the trip for any reason is non refundable.

    ITINERARY CHANGES
    As operators we reserve the right to modify the itinerary or specified times for the security and comfort of our clients with or with out notice.

    TO ACCOUNT:
    This tour is not suitable for people with mobility problems, because hiking trails to the archaeological sites are not prepared for their needs.

    GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

    PASSPORT AND VISAS
    Thanks to the » Agreement on the Travel Documents States of MERCOSUR and Associated States «, (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.) National and/or residents and regular members of these countries may travel to Peru, as a tourist, only with the presentation of the documents of identity.
    This means you can enter the country with your valid ID or passport.

    WEATHER
    Generally, the climate is cold and dry, with cold nights, sunny days and an average temperature of 12 degrees.
    Be prepared for these weather changes.
    – Between 5:00 and 7:00 am, the temperature can range from 2 °C to 8 °C.
    – Between 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm, temperature can range from 12 °C to 24 °C.
    – Between 5:00 pm more, the temperature begins to drop to 8 °C overnight.
    Machu Picchu is subtropical with warm and humid weather. It is hot during the day and cool at night. The temperature ranges from 12 to 26 °C.

    CLOTHES AND ACCESSORIES
    We recommend that you bring warm sweaters and a warm jackets for the nights. Windbreak jacket, cardigan, cotton t-shirts, light trousers, good shoes, swimwear, sandals, sun glasses, hat, sunscreen, insect repellant.
    During the day you can use a t- shirt and comfortable cotton trousers. Bring a small backpack to take the necessary staff for the 3 days we are going to spend in Machu Picchu.
    If you travel to Manu, you will need a raincoat, a water bottle, a torch and binoculars.
    CURRENCY
    Throughout Peru, the official currency is the Nuevo Sol.
    It is recommended to take US dollars. You do not get a good exchange with other currencies. You can change your dollars at the Hotel or in a bureau de change.

    HEALTH
    Cusco is at an altitude of 3350 above sea level.
    If you suffer from altitude sickness, we recommend that you buy “Sorochipil» at the airport or in Lima to help the effects of altitude. It is also advisable to drink coca tea upon arrival and take lots of liquid during the first two days and avoid fatty food. Most people are fine. Rest and water help a lot.
    While in Cusco bring with you your identity documents and a photocopy of them, and the entry tickets that we will give you in Cusco to enter to the sacred sites.
    Please try to respect the timing of the schedules, to help the trip run smoothly.
    You can have dinner in the Hotel as it has a restaurant with an A la Carte menu or if you prefer you can walk to the main square (10 min walk) where there are numerous restaurants, pubs and folk clubs.
    Do not leave valuables in the hotel room. Leave valuable objects in the safe at the hotels reception or front desk.
    If you must take a taxi only use an authorized taxi (A sign and phone number on top of the taxi indicates that they are safe and belong to a taxi company) The taxis do not have taximeter, a trip costs from $5 Nuevos Soles for short distances and about $10 Nuevos soles for long distances.
    We recommend not bringing too much luggage. Some travelers end up paying for excess baggage on their return trip because of the local handicrafts and gifts they buy.
    The hotel has two hour laundry service.
    If you get lost for any reason, or your flight is delayed, please call the hotel or Kety to notify us where you are and at what time you will arrive.
